Lakeview Takes Down Defending State Champ O’Neill

COLUMBUS, Neb. – The Lakeview Vikings are riding high after a win over a quality opponent.

Lakeview (3-1) defeated defending state champions O’Neill (2-2) 28-17 at home on Friday.

Jacob Frenzen ran wild for the Vikings, running for 208 yards off 25 carries, scoring one touchdown. Cadge Janssen played a strong game himself, going 5-7 with 46 yards passing with one touchdown and running for 53 yards.

The Vikings biggest quarter was the 2nd, when they tacked on 21 points, including touchdowns from Jaden Johnson and Cameron Drozd, and also a fumble recovery for a touchdown by LB Nolan Viergutz.

Jacob Frenzen capped things off in the third with a 41 yard touchdown run.

O’Neill QB Alex Thramer threw for 272 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Lakeview out-rushed O’Neill 287 to 41 in the game.

Lakeview will travel to Boone Central/Newman Grove next week, while O’Neill will play West Point/Beemer on the road.
