Public Aids With Capturing Drunk Driver

NORFOLK – With the help of a couple of good samaritans, a drunk driver is behind bars.

Sunday afternoon Norfolk PD receive reports of a reckless driver in the 800 block of East Norfolk Avenue.

Two separate callers contacted the Police Division and both provided a description and license plate of the vehicle.

Officers located unoccupied in the Hy-Vee East Gas station parking lot. In that car was an open alcohol can in the cup holder.

Officer spoke with the male driver Angel M. Villalobos. During this contact, officers could smell alcohol coming from him. Officers requested him to perform field sobriety maneuvers and submit to a preliminary breath test.

The results of the sobriety maneuvers showed impairment and the preliminary breath test results were over three times the legal limit.

Police arrested Villalobos for driving under the influence 3rd offense +.150.

Once Villalobos was at the city jail, he refused to submit to a chemical test of his breath, resulting in police also charging him for refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Villalobos was booked into in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
