The newspaper talked to N-O Superintendent Scott Gregory on Friday and he declined comment.

The Warriors’ basketball team is 8-9 and has lost five of its last six games entering the Niobrara Valley Conference tournament.

Gade joined the school in 2011 and has been the basketball coach and a science teacher since then, according to the newspaper.  He guided the Warriors to their only state tournament appearance as a consolidated school last year.  N-O finished as the Class C-2 runners up after losing to Ponca in the state championship game.  The Warriors finished last season 26-4.

Gade is also the school’s boys golf coach.
