Scotus Defeats Stanton in Dual, CCC drops Union (GOLF AREA ROUNDUP)

COLUMBUS – It was a busy day of golf at both the collegiate and high school levels on Tuesday in Columbus as both Scotus and the Central Community College golf teams were in action.

On the high school side of things, Scotus defeated Stanton in a Dual with a score of 183-200. Kayne Schroeder led the way for the Shamrocks with a 41, while Bryce VunCannon was the next low score with a 43. Tate VunCannon had a 49 for Scotus, while Colson Kosch shot a 50 along with team-mate Drew VunCannon.

Scotus coach Tyler Swanson was pleased with the results, but knows there is work left to be done.

“Our guys left a lot of shots out there on the course today. Our approach game was not up to par and when we did get in position to score we missed makeable putts. Like I said last week, we know we have areas to work on and with each guy, they just need to key in on a few areas and make improvements.  We have a lot of time to work on our game and so we can get where we want to be,” said Swanson.

Over at Elks Country Club, the CCC squad defeated Union college by a final score of 346 to 348. The Raiders were led by John Opela, who shot a low round of 79 for CCC. Former Discoverer Jon Luckey, had the next best round as he shot an 87 for the Raiders.

Next up for the Raiders will be the Union College 4 Team Tournament on Friday. They are preparing to get ready for the Region XI Tournament which will be held at York Country Club on April 25th and April 26th.
