COLUMBUS – A two-vehicle accident in Columbus on Thursday morning sent one driver to Columbus Community Hospital.
According to the Columbus Police Department, the accident occurred at the intersection of 38th Street and 33rd Avenue at 10:15 a.m. The drivers involved were identified as 84-year-old Lorna Schuster of Norfolk, and 41-year-old Leslie Huston of Columbus.
The accident report states that Schuster was traveling southbound on 33rd Avenue, and Huston was heading westbound on 38th Street. A witness said that the traffic light was red for southbound traffic on 33rd Avenue.
Schuster said that she violated the traffic light, and did not see Huston coming through the intersection, and collided with the driver’s side of Huston’s vehicle. Schuster said she became confused after missing an earlier turn, and wasn’t familiar with the area.
Schuster was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, and her vehicle was totaled in the accident. Damage to Huston’s vehicle is estimated at $3000.
