Annual Event Will Ride Through Nebraska To Help Fight Cancer

FREMONT – The 11th Annual Ride to Cure Cancer is this Saturday.

Ride to Cure Cancer is an annual poker run and dinner benefit. It supports cancer survivors, their families, and the proceeds go to aid in cancer research. Running the event this year is Rich Olivia and his wife Charity. Olivia says the event was started by his father-in-law to raise awareness and money for cancer and cancer research.

“Ride to Cure Cancer was originally started by my father-in-law to help raise money for awareness of cancer, and fight cancer,” said Olivia. “We give all our proceeds to American Cancer Society, and Relay for Life. We’ve done that for over ten years, and we donated about over $60,000.”

Sign up for the event will be from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Tin Lizzy’s Tavern in Fremont. The event will include stops in Gretna, Ashland, Wahoo, and Waterloo. The final stop will be Izaak Walton in Fremont.
