Another Brewery Opens in Small Town Nebraska

ALBION- Craft Breweries are becoming more popular across the state of Nebraska. In 2011, there were just 18. Now you can see breweries popping up across the state, approaching 50. There has been an explosion of them, especially in smaller towns.

The newest brewery HWY 14 Brewing Co. in Albion opened earlier this week. What first began as a beer brewing hobby has become a skilled business endeavor for Greg and Mandy  Luettel, In fact, Greg is a self-taught brewmaster. He says the beers they do have tap are all made from their brewery. They have ales, pale ales, IPA’s, Stouts, porters and are working on their first lager.

The couple believes the brewery will bring business and tourism into the community. They want to create an atmosphere that people want to come back to and that they can’t get other places.

Through this journey, they say their HWY 14 brewery has offered additional jobs and another form of entertainment to the place where they both grew up.

Luettel says she believes Breweries have become so popular because they are a “social gathering.” They also say there are many people like themselves who enjoy traveling to visit other breweries.

A welcoming and warm environment is what Greg and Mandy strive to create. The brewery is located at 134 S. 4th Street in downtown Albion.
