Auburn Motorcyclist Killed in Kansas Collision

BEATRICE – A 43-year-old Auburn, Nebraska man has been killed in an accident involving his motorcycle and a car, in Clay County, Kansas.

Scott Curtis was riding a 2000 Harley Davidson southbound on Kansas Highway 15 south of Clay Center, when he passed a semi-trailer truck in a no-passing zone.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports Curtis laid the motorcycle down on its left side in the opposite lane, and was struck by a northbound car.  The KHP says Curtis was not wearing a helmet.

The 2015 Chevrolet Malibu involved in the accident was driven by 31-year-old Megan Gfeller, of Wakefield, Kansas.   She was wearing a safety restraint, and was not injured in the collision.

Authorities say the accident happened Monday morning at 8:32, one-point-eight miles south of Clay Center.
