NORTHEAST NEBRASKA — The Nebraska Department of Transportation is warning of icy roads and police scanner reports echo the concern.
One of the season’s first winter storms didn’t drop much snow on northeast Nebraska but is depositing a layer of ice on roads. The NDOT has several area highways classified as partially covered with ice. Highway 14 between Neligh and Brunswick is classified as completely covered with ice and snow.
According to scanner reports, authorities in the Columbus area have witnessed many vehicles struggling with slick conditions. Icy bridges south of Columbus may have contributed to a multi-vehicle pileup.
