Beatrice Public Schools Considering Lease-Purchase of New Activities Bus

BEATRICE – Beatrice Public Schools is examining purchase of a new activities bus, for out-of-town sports, music and field trips.  School board members, Monday night, got a look at a vehicle similar to one the district has under consideration.  The bus, owned by the Falls City Public Schools District, was brought to Beatrice for board members to examine.

Beatrice School Superintendent Jason Alexander says the district plans to use a $42,000 grant received by the district through participation in a legal settlement, to help pay for the vehicle.

The school board must decide on a vehicle in December, in order to receive the grant for the purchase.  Alexander says he’s also looking at other grant sources to help defray cost.

A new activities bus would replace a 1998, 54-student capacity bus.  Beatrice Board members discussed color possibilities of the vehicle, from the traditional yellow, to white, to black, with an Orange logo.  The district has three activity buses in its fleet.
