Beatrice Woman Sentenced to Probation, Facing Second Criminal Case

BEATRICE – A 28-year-old Beatrice woman today was sentenced to a three-year probation term, for possession of a controlled substance.

In Gage County District Court, Amber Pedersen pleaded guilty to a charge that was reduced from a class-two felony, to a class-four.   She initially faced a charge of distribution of an exceptionally hazardous drug.   The date of the offense was October, of last year.

Pedersen is now also facing a class-two felony drug charge in Gage County Court.  A preliminary hearing in that case today was scheduled for April 27th.   County Judge Steve Timm granted a reduction in Pedersen’s bond, from $7,500, to $5,000.

Pedersen is charged with distribution of methamphetamine.   She was recently arrested on a warrant for an alleged drug transaction the state patrol conducted April 20th of last year.

The NSP used a confidential informant to allegedly purchase one gram of methamphetamine from the defendant, for $100.

Pedersen could receive from 1-to-50 years in prison, if convicted of the charge.  She has been in custody for Gage County, in the Washington County, Kansas Jail.
