Bright Horizons In Need of Non-perishable Items

NORFOLK, NE — There’s no better time to help out your local food pantry than now.

Bright Horizons is in desperate need for assistance this Christmas season, according to Housing Supervisor, Lacy Kimes.

“We are in desperate need of canned non-perishable items for our pantry. Whether that canned vegetables, soup, pastas, anything that would carry a good amount of shelf life we could use at this time.”

Domestic and sexual assault is a very real problem in our area, according to Kimes who says the numbers show the need. With 250 people being seen every month at Bright Horizons, Kimes says they spend several hundred dollars on food a month.

“Without the community’s help we may not be able to continue to help the individuals get out of their crisis situation and into better lives. We really depend on the community to help us out.”

Bright Horizons has office locations in Norfolk, O’Neill and Ainsworth and shelters in Norfolk and O’Neill. Kimes says they try to keep food at this locations at all times.

If you want to help you can drop off any non-perishable items at one of their three locations.
