DAVID CITY – With community development being a focal point across the state of Nebraska, a Butler County organization celebrated its efforts with its first-ever self-produced banquet on Tuesday night.
The Butler County Area Foundation Fund celebrated the overwhelming completion of a $100,000 challenge grant which was accepted about two years ago. Advisory Committee member Michael Moravec says that the foundation was able to raise $525,000 with the communities support, with all that money now being available for future Butler County projects.
The fund was opened in June of 1998, with the mission to enhance the quality of life for all people in Butler County. Those with project ideas can apply for a grant with the foundation, which is looking for projects that address strategic community development efforts.
Projects that the foundation has previously helped with include building redevelopments, playground improvements, tree planting, and the support of arts programs throughout the county. Moravec says that the banquet provided the community with the opportunity to sit back and enjoy each other’s company, and celebrate the continued development of Butler County.
