Chester Native Crowned Miss. Nebraska

CHESTER – Chester native Allison Tietjen was crowned Miss Nebraska last Saturday, and she plans to wear her crown on behalf of all those small town Nebraska girls.

Tietjen tells News Channel Nebraska, “To small town girls out there: find out what your dreams and goals are, and then pursue those dreams without hesitation. Being from a small town, you know exactly what hard work is and what it takes to be successful.” She continued, “Use those qualities you were raised on to make the most of each day, and never let where your are from stop you from chasing your dreams. You are so special because you are a small town girl!”

Tietjen plans to give her “whole heart” to the state of Nebraska. She also wants her title to represent Nebraska in the best way by raising an awareness of appreciation and respect to veterans and active military. She plans on collecting “Thank You” cards during her travels as Miss Nebraska to send to soldiers across the country. She says, “I am only going to be Miss Nebraska for a year, but each day this year I want to work towards making this state even greater than it already is.”

Tietjen began competing in pageants when she was a senior in high school.

“It wasn’t something I ever thought I would do, until I really thought about what it takes to compete and what the job of Miss Nebraska entails. I decided that even though I knew little to nothing about pageantry, I would give it a try! My senior year I placed 3rd-Runner up at Miss Nebraska and was absolutely thrilled!”

She says becoming Miss Nebraska wasn’t her “lifelong goal, but a temporary goal.” She encourages all youth to keep establishing goals throughout their lifetime.
