PONCA – Christmas is coming early to Ponca State Park. Saturday, December 16th the park is hosting a myriad of activities to help park-goers get in the holiday spirit.
Kick off Christmas in the Woods at Ponca State Park at 9:30 a.m. with a craft. For $1 per craft, attendees can make holiday wreaths to spread holiday cheer. There is a limit of 30 people for the activity so be sure to pre-register at the Resource and Education Center.
At 11:30, active park guests can join the Winter Hike. Hikers will hit the trail on a scavenger hunt to look for animal tracks, learn about animal winter survival and see a 300-year-old tree. Those interested should bundle up and wear comfortable shoes. Hikers will meet at the West Shelter House.
From 1-2 p.m., the Winter Wonderland Photo Booth will be capturing fun pictures. Props and costumes will be available, so participants can take goofy, funny or nice photos. Photo booth sessions are free and pictures will be emailed to those who take them. Meet at the Resource and Education Center.
Park guest with a sweet tooth can take part in Festive Cupcake Decorations at 3. Meet at the Resource and Education Center to make a holiday cupcake that will look as good as it tastes.
Saturday’s activities come to a close with the popular Lighted Hayrack Ride. Guests can enjoy the frosty air while taking a tour of the park on the festively decorated hayrack. The ride will go from the Resource and Education Center to the Tri-State Overlook and back. The ride is free, and riders should meet at the Resource and Education Center.
