Columbus Man Accused of Strangling Woman, Pushing Her Out of Trailer

COLUMBUS, Neb. – Police say a Columbus man choked a woman before pushing her out of a trailer, following an argument in July.

28-year-old Justyn Franklin is charged with felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and is due in Platte County court on October 25th.

According to court records, police were told by the woman that she grabbed his phone after confronting him about an issue. She told police that he reacted by pushing her down on a bed and choking her from behind, until she told him that she could not breath and was getting light headed.

Documents say she got up to go grab her kids when he pushed her out of the trailer as she was exiting, falling face first on to a wooden pallet.

Police say she also had an abrasion on her right knee from the pallet. The documents also say police observed redness around her neck.

Police say Franklin denied choking her or pushing her down the stairs.

If convicted, Franklin faces a max sentence of three years in jail, with no minimum.
