MADISON- Madison County’s budget is starting to take shape.
On Tuesday, the Madison County board of commissioners discussed next year’s 2018-2019 budget
The proposed budget that the committee came forward with is 39.6 million dollars compared to last years budget of 37.4, which is about a 6% increase.
This didn’t look good to the board as they had to make a cut of 170,000 dollars from the general fund.
Madison County Clerk Nancy Scheer says one of the goals of the committee was to keep the levy rate the same.
With the increase in the property valuation that the county experienced, the levy rate will be about the same as the prior year at 32.6 cents.
The final numbers will be gathered and presented on Wednesday, September 5th.
