Critters and Crafts At Ponca State Park Saturday

PONCA – A Ponca State Park favorite will be educating park-goers Saturday.

Ponca State Park has both a Critter Corner and crafting opportunity scheduled for Saturday. Park guests can enjoy a “Winter is Coming” themed Critter Corner. Critter Corner allows participant to take a hands-on approach to learning about the types of creatures that inhabit the Missouri River and surrounding area.

The “Winter is Coming” Critter Corner will allow learners to discover how creatures keep warm in the winter and where they find their food. Participants are encouraged to see, touch and even smell live creatures, as well as furs, feathers, shells, skulls and more. Critter Corner will begin at 10 a.m. at the Resource & Education Center. The event is free and open to the public.

At 1 p.m., attendees can get use Ponca State Park’s beauty to inspire them as they make nature picture frames. For $1 per craft, participants will build their own picture frames using sticks, pine cones, leaves and other natural materials. Print off a favorite park picture and put it in the frame. There is a limit of 20 people for the tutorial, so those interested need to register at the Resource & Education Center.
