Cut Gas Line Forces School Evacuation

NORFOLK – A Norfolk school is among those that have been evacuated thanks to a cut gas line.

Norfolk school administrators say students at Jefferson Elementary School were cleared out on the recommendation of Norfolk Fire officials. Rescue and utility officials have been working Tuesday morning to repair a gas line that was cut.

School Superintendent Dr. Jami Jo Thompson says the students at the school on Cottonwood Street were not in any danger, but were moved to a safer location while officials work at the scene.

The cause of the cut gas line has not been released.
