COLUMBUS – The Columbus Community Hospital put on the 15th annual Diabetes Awareness Day at the Columbus Wellness Center on Tuesday afternoon.
The event provided community members with the opportunity to learn more about diabetes and its risk factors by providing education and resources to assist in diabetes prevention. Numerous different health screening were provided for attendees, as well as three different presentations discussing topics related to diabetes.
Health screenings that were provided included blood sugar, blood pressure, vision, hearing, bone density, influenza immunization, and foot checks among others. The three presentations discussed the hospital’s Diabetes Prevention Program, diabetes and wound care, and a healthy cooking demonstration.
All of the presentations and health screenings worked towards stressing the importance of how leading a healthy lifestyle can prevent the development of diabetes, and informing attendees of the different programs and classes that the hospital provides in order to help community members along their health-conscious journey.
