Dodge County Clerk of District Court Refiles for Tenth Term

FREMONT – Dozens of Nebraska candidates filed for office on Friday, which was the first day of the filing period.

One of those candidates is Linda J. Nelson, the current Clerk of District Court for Dodge County who is refiling for the position. Nelson first took the position in 1979 when she was only 28-years-old. If re-elected to another four years it will be her tenth term. Nelson says she has continued to run for the position because of her love for the job.

“I really love my job. I love what I do, and I enjoy the work,” said Nelson. “I enjoy the people that I work with here. It was really a no-brainer to refile. It’s been a great experience for me.”

Nelson is originally from the Lindsay, Nebraska area. Her parents were farmers north of the village. In 1974 Nelson and her husband moved to Hooper, Nebraska. Together the couple has two daughters and three grandchildren.

Nelson previously worked in the Madison County District Court. She says after really enjoying working there, she felt encouraged to run for the position of clerk of District Court after moving to Dodge County.
