Electrical Line Workers Being Honored, in Nebraska

BEATRICE – Whether it’s a blizzard, a flood, icing, high winds and other threatening weather, they head out at all times of the day including weekends….and they’re being recognized in Nebraska today.

Governor Pete Ricketts has declared today as Line Workers Appreciation Day, recognizing those workers who risk their own safety to restore electric power.

Nebraska Public Power District CEO, Pat Pope says line workers are highly-skilled professionals.

Cornhusker Public Power District line worker Keith Staab says the two highest priorities for line workers are safety, and service reliability for customers.

Governor Ricketts notes the state has about six thousand miles of transmission lines, and about 100-thousand miles of distribution lines, maintained by over eighteen-hundred line workers in the state.
