Fire Breaks Out At Roadrunner Iron & Metal

MONROE – Multiple departments converged on an accidental fire at a scrap metal recycling center in Monroe.

Around 4:00 PM on Tuesday, Monroe Fire and Rescue requested assistance for a fire that had broken out at Roadrunner Iron & Metal. Calls came in throughout the next hour for more manpower and additional water tankers to assist with the blaze.

The Monroe Fire Department was assisted by departments from Platte Center, Columbus, and the Columbus Rural Fire and Rescue along with help from Central Valley Ag. No injuries were reported, and the fire was eventually extinguished by the various departments on scene.
