NORFOLK – For the eighth straight year, the Norfolk community gathered together in the fight against breast cancer.
For The Girls of Norfolk held their annual fundraising event at The Stables on Wednesday night, with the theme of this year’s event being This is PINK. Hundreds of people came out to enjoy live entertainment, specialty foods and drinks, and both live and silent auctions, featuring a variety of items to bid on.
Over the years, For The Girls has donated over $100,000 to breast cancer research, and are continuing to find new ways to raise breast cancer awareness throughout northeast Nebraska. Event Co-Chair Makala Williams says that what makes the event so special is that the majority of the funds which are raised will stay locally to support survivors in Norfolk.
Fellow Event Co-Chair Kelly Jueden says that For The Girls will hold another event this October which will be a sit-down dinner for survivors and a guest. Both Jueden and Williams say that it has been very uplifting to see the outpouring of support from the community over the last number of years, and are happy to be doing what they can to support survivors around the Norfolk area.
