Fremont Area Artists Showcase Their Art in Historic Downtown

FREMONT – Fremont residents had the chance to support local artists again this weekend.

The Fremont Artisan Market opened again on Saturday in the parking lot behind the May Brothers Building in downtown Fremont, located at 105 E. 6th Street. Owners of the May Brothers Building, and founders of Fremont Creative Collective, Glen and Nancy Ellis host the event. Glen Ellis says the goal of the Artisan Market is to bring together and showcase area artists.

“The whole goal is to bring artisan together. And that’s kind of what the May Brothers and the Creative Collective are all about,” said Ellis. “We’re trying to bring the creative people together in Fremont. And so we came up with this idea a year or two years ago, and thought we just gotta give people an outlet for their creativity.”

The Artisan Market is held on the second Saturday each month from May to October. This month the market was held in the new Green Space downtown. Ellis says having the new Green Space was an improvement to the event.

“It’s going to be really neat. I think it’s just going to be an awesome environment for the artisan,” said Ellis. “In the past we’ve done it in the back parking lot, and it’s been hot and nothing but concrete. Now we’re going to have a little grass and little trees around us, and I think it’s just going to be a really good one.”

The last Artisan Market of the year will be on October 14th.
