FREMONT – A Fremont Man was arrested for possessing a controlled substance after nearly causing an accident while driving impaired.
According to Lt. Ed Watts with the Fremont Police Department, on Friday at approximately 6:20 p.m. officers responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in the area of the 500 block of W. 23rd Street. Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle being driven out of its driving lane and nearly causing an accident. Contact was made with the driver, identified as 60-year-old Daniel R. Whalley of Fremont. Whalley showed signs of impairment, and as a result was arrested on charges of Unlawful Acts relating to Drugs, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Driving under the Influence.
Also on Friday at 10:05 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 200 block of N. Main Street in reference to an intoxicated male causing a disturbance. Contact was made with Michael Schell, age 36 of Fremont. Schell showed signs of intoxication and was belligerent and argumentative with officers. He was placed under arrest for the charges of Disturbing the Peace and Disorderly Conduct.
On Saturday at 1:05 a.m. officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of W. 3rd Street in regards to a verbal argument taking place. Officers made contact with 36-year-old Jesse A. Hill of Fremont. Hill showed signs of intoxication and was belligerent. He was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.
And at 1:50 p.m. on Saturday a report of animal cruelty at a residence in the 1000 block of E. 5th Street was received. It was reported two dogs were in a backyard kennel without adequate food or water. Contact was made with the owner of the dogs, identified as 34-year-old William D. Turner of Fremont. Turner was cited for Animal Cruelty, and the dogs were impounded by the Dodge County Humane Society.
