Holiday Lighted Parade, Through Downtown Beatrice

BEATRICE – While much of central and northern Nebraska was dealing with blizzard conditions Saturday, only a mix of drizzle, rain and light snow allowed the Annual Holiday Lighted Parade to go on as scheduled Saturday night, in Beatrice.

The half-hour parade travels north through the downtown area on Fifth Street, with pickups, buses, trucks, trailers, mowers and flatbeds rigged with colorful lights, to help get people in the holiday spirit.

City police, fire and utility vehicles were also in the parade, which is put on by the Beatrice Area Chamber of Commerce.   Earlier in the day, Main Street Beatrice offered trolley rides while businesses were open, and activities were held at the Carnegie Building and Beatrice Public Library.   Several downtown businesses have multi-colored holiday displays in their store fronts.

Santa Claus made an appearance in the parade, and afterward, kids could have their photo taken with Santa in a heated tent where the parade finished up, at Charles Park.
