MADISON, NE — It takes a village to build one.
Since 2011 the Community Redevelopment Authority had a vision of growing and redeveloping Madison. Over the course of five years the Madison City Council and the Mayor worked on tackling the housing shortage.
On Wednesday a ribbon cutting was held at a new subdivision, Horizon View, south of Madison near the Highway 81 corridor.
The houses will be spread across 12 aces of property. Phase I will consist of 11 lots, four of which have already been purchased by a developer, Dana Point Development. The developer plans on beginning construction in spring of 2018. Once phase II is full, plans are in place to build an additional 17 lots.
The most recent housing submission in Madison was started in 1970’s, and full by the 1980’s, no new housing has been built in Madison City limits was over ten years ago.
Horizon View credits their sponsors, local banks, corporations, willingness of property owners to the success of the subdivision.
