Juvenile is Cited after Involvement in Hit and Run Accident

FREMONT – A Fremont juvenile was cited after being involved in a hit and run accident.

According to Lt. Ed Watts with the Fremont Police Department, on Friday at approximately 2 p.m. a hit and run accident was reported in the 1900 block of N. Lincoln Avenue. The victim reported another driver had struck his parked car and then fled the scene. The victim was able to provide the investigating officer with the license plate number of car, and the driver was located. The driver, a 17-year-old juvenile from Fremont admitted to being involved in the accident. He was cited and released for violating his Learner’s Permit.

Also on Saturday at approximately 10 p.m. officers were dispatched to the parking lot of a business located in the 700 block of N. Broad Street. It was reported that a possibly impaired driver had passed out in a running vehicle. Upon arrival officers made contact with the driver, 46-year-old Clinton D. Thornton of Scottsbluff. Thornton showed signs of impairment consistent with the consumption of alcoholic beverages.

A DUI investigation was conducted, and Thorton was eventually arrested and charged with DUI second offense, Refusal to Submit to a Preliminary Breath Test, and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.
