Kids Break Ground on Their New Inclusive Playground

NORFOLK, NE —A soon-to-be new playground is kid-approved as they broke ground where their new inclusive playground will be.

Embrace Park was conceptualized last year by Emily Afrank, a Physical Therapist at Faith Regional. With inclusivity in mind, the playground will be a place where kids of all ages and abilities can come together and play.

“We are very thankful for the Norfolk community and surrounding areas as well as all our donors – you are what made this possible for us. All the kids are so excited.”

Afrank says since it’s all for the kids, it was only fitting they made it official.

The playground will also double as a place to do therapy. The park will be one of a kind in the northeast Nebraska area, and Afrank hopes other communities follow suit.

“Hopefully it encourage surrounding communities to think, may be not to this scale, but look at their current parks and situation and see if they can improve and be more inclusive.”

The land for the playground is currently being prepped and if all goes as planned with the weather, the kids will have their playground by the end of this month.
