Lakeview Senior Heading To International Robotics Tournament

COLUMBUS – A Columbus Lakeview senior is getting set to compete in an international robotics tournament this weekend.

Kyle Mohrmann will be the lone representative that the Vikings will send to the CREATE U.S. Open Robotics Championships, beginning on Friday in Council Bluffs. Teams from across Nebraska will be competing against teams from California, Texas, New York, and China among others.

The championship opens with registration and a skills challenge on Thursday, and teams will return on Friday for the qualifying rounds of competition. Elimination matches and the finals will take place on Saturday at the Mid American Center.

In all, 58 teams will participate in the competition which caps off the 2018-19 CREATE Open season, and the tournament is one of the largest CREATE Open competitions held to date. Mohrmann says that he’s very happy to have the opportunity to compete in this weekend’s tournament, and that a win would be a great way to end his senior season with the Lakeview robotics team.
