Lindsay Corporation Celebrates 50th Anniversary Of Zimmatic Pivot

LINDSAY – Lindsay Corporation welcomed employees both past and present to a celebration on Thursday of one of the most pivotal moments in company history.

Lindsay celebrated the 50th anniversary of the sale of its first Zimmatic center pivot, a game-changing innovation in agriculture that helped shape Lindsay into what it is today. The first pivot was sold on November 6, 1968, and the first five were successfully installed and operational on Nebraska fields during the 1969 growing season.

The success of the pivot helped jumpstart Lindsay Corporation, and Zimmatic is now being sold in over 90 countries around the world. Amazingly enough, that first pivot which was sold in 1968 is still operational to this day.

The celebration was attended by over 300 Lindsay employees from Lindsay and Omaha, who heard remarks from Lindsay CEO Tim Hassinger, Director of North American Sales Jason Parker, Global VP of Manufacturing Greg Oswald, and Lieutenant Governor Mike Foley.

The event also featured a story telling panel, where five longtime Lindsay employees discussed Lindsay’s past, and the future of the company. Parker says that the future of Lindsay lies in continued technological innovation, and helping Nebraska’s farmers to have the most efficient machines to assist in their work.
