Main Street Beatrice Fundraiser to be Held at Mercantile Building

BEATRICE – The Main Street Beatrice organization will hold their major spring fundraiser this year, at a newly refurbished downtown building.

The Taste of Spring event will be held at what’s known as the Beatrice Mercantile building, at 3rd and Court, March 29th.  Main Street Director Michael Sothan says It’s a social event that raises financial support for Main Street and downtown revitalization.

The building will house the Stone Hollow Brewing Company and other businesses. Monday night, the Beatrice City Council approved a special event liquor permit for the event, which will be between five p.m. and ten p.m, on the 29th.

Elected officials also approved closure of U.S. Highway 136 for this summer’s Homestead Days Parade, which will be Saturday, June 22nd…and approved a permit for sale of goods in Charles Park, during celebration activities, June 19th through the 23rd.

City officials also approved the use of five city-owned parcels of property for construction of the Beatrice Hannibal Park Trail, which will connect the Big Blue Water Park with Hannibal Park in the east part of the city.
