Main Street Executive Director Michael Sothan says the current drive for donations that’s gone out in the mail is a chance for the organization to highlight successes of the past year. The drive seeks partnership contributions from individual $25 donations, up to $1,000 or more, in the Main Street Builder category.

This year, the organization worked with the City of Beatrice to utilize a state block grant that is helping to finance building façade improvements at downtown businesses. About a dozen projects have been approved by city elected leaders.

Projects require business owners to match at least 25% of the project cost. Under the grant program, work must be completed by November of 2018. One of the most visible construction projects so far, is the renovation of an old building located at 3rd and Court Streets.
With the Christmas holiday coming up, Main Street is holding some seasonal events.
