COLUMBUS – A Columbus woman is sending a message to her missing son on his birthday, as the search continues after nearly a year.
Amber Garrett says her son, 22-year-old Joseph A. Voecks, has been missing since January 14th, 2018. Garrett says that Voecks has a family that misses him dearly, including a daughter, grandparents, father, mother, brothers, sisters, aunts, and uncles. Garrett also says that it is not in Voecks’ nature to leave without some type of contact, or leave his daughter without her father.
January 3rd is Voecks’ birthday, and Garrett sends this message to the Columbus News Team to share:
“Happy birthday to my first born, my first baby boy “JoJo” Joseph Voecks. I wish for your birthday that you are safe, and will come home. Today is hard for all your family, we miss you dearly and want you to come home to us. Wherever you may be, know that we all love you and your daughter misses you like crazy, you wouldn’t believe how much she’s just like you! Her love of music, dancing, her stubbornness (well, she gets some of that from this grandma) her attitude and her cute smile. I love you Joseph Voecks, just please come home!”
Garrett says that Voecks is diagnosed with ADHD, bipolar disorder, and oppositional defiance disorder. He also has a lethal cyst which is attached to the back of his head.
Voecks was last seen leaving a Burger King in Norfolk, wearing a black American Eagle sweater, white tennis shoes, blue jeans, and a black leather jacket. Voecks is listed as 6’3″ tall, weighing 220 lbs with blonde hair and blue eyes, and Garrett says he also wears glasses.
Garrett is willing to offer a reward for any information that leads to Voecks’ safe return. If you have information on Voecks’ whereabouts you can contact your local authorities, or Garrett says you can call her directly at 402-910-9328.
