Flood waters from the Big Blue River covered nearly all of the park on Friday, including picnic shelters, camping area, playground equipment and an old Army Tank that’s been a fixture for years. Motorists traveling by the park were getting a good look at what happens when the Big Blue elevates at least five feet above flood stage.
The high water was also encroaching on Veteran’s Memorial Park, across the highway to the west. Flood waters covered a recreational trail and buried a wooden canopy along the trail.
Forecasters project the river level likely won’t fall back to the flood stage of 18 feet, until Tuesday.
