COLUMBUS – A father and two sons are seeing their clothing store come full circle, as they host their grand opening in Columbus on Wednesday.
Glik’s has over 50 stores across the midwest, as the celebrate 120 years of business. Attached to the ribbon, for the ribbon cutting, was 120 $1 bills, which were donated to the chamber, as a part of a Glik’s tradition for each year they are in business.
Father Joe Glik, and Sons Jeff and Jim Glik say they are excited to see the store opening it’s doors in a robust community like Columbus.
Jeff Glik says, “It’s very exciting, our great grandfather Joseph Glik opened a store in St. Paul, Nebraska in 1881, and that store closed in 1888, and he moved to St. Louis where the first Glik store opened in 1897.”
Jim Glik says, “It is exciting to see more of a nice center like this, which is really somewhat more of a lifestyle updated strip center, which is where I think retail is going, and it’s where we’re going. We wanna be more boutique, more specialty, we wanna offer product and service in a nice comfortable environment, so that’s why this works perfect for us.”
Joe Glik says, “I’m just proud that my sons are here to carry the business on, and they’ve done a fantastic job. We’re glad to be here.”
The store is in the outdoor mall on the 100 block of 24th Street in East Columbus and offers a variety of fashions for both men and women at a variety of price points.
