Norfolk Man who Fought and Spat at Officers Sentenced

NORFOLK, NE — A Norfolk man who fought and spat at officers will spend three years in prison.

25-year old Michael Zoubek was found guilty of assaulting an officer in Madison County District Court Friday morning.

Police say back in March Zoubek was found sitting on the porch of a residence despite not knowing who they were.

When Police arrived they say Zoubek tried to run. While fleeing down the porch steps he punched an officer in the head and continued to put up a fight until police fired a taser to subdue him. Captain Don Miller from Norfolk PD said Zoubek also spit in an officer’s face.

In court, Zoubek admitted to at that time being high on meth for a week. He told Judge James Kube he had no recollections of that evening, and didn’t remember attacking any police officers.

Zoubek told the court he is ready to change and that he is “just sick of it.”

Zoubek will spend three years at the Department of Corrections. It was recommended by the court he get alcohol and drug treatment during incarceration.
