Norfolk School Board Sets Timeline for Replacing High School Principal

NORFOLK — Norfolk Senior High Principal Jake Luhr is moving on from his post and the Norfolk School Board is moving forward with finding his replacement.

The Board unanimously accepted his resignation at its meeting Monday night.  Luhr accepted an offer to be the next Superintendent at Battle Creek Schools last week.

NPS Superintendent Dr. Jami Jo Thompson laid out her timeline for replacing Luhr with a goal of interviewing candidates the first week of April.  She says there will be three interview committees: administrative, staff and student/parent.  Additionally, Dr. Thompson sent a survey to all Junior and Senior High students and parents asking for input on which characteristics they want to see in their next principal.  That survey is available on the district website.

Members of the School Board thanked Luhr for his service at the end of the meeting.

“You’ve been amazing and I know you’re going to do wonderful things in Battle Creek,” School Board member Sandy Wolfe said.  “You’re just going to turn that maroon a little purple now.”

The School Board will finalize its strategic plan at its next meeting on Thursday, March 22nd.
