NORFOLK- Funding for an energy storage system is being sought by
the City of Norfolk and the Nebraska Public Power District.
The funding for the new system would be tied to a proposed community solar
That project depends on approval of a grant application submitted by the Nebraska Public Power District to receive $490,000 in funding from the Nebraska Environmental Trust.
The unit would store approximately the amount of electricity that a small home would use over the course of two months.
The knowledge gained from the new technology could be reproduced by other Nebraska electrical utilities.
The grant proposal selections are to be announced around April 2019.
If awarded the grant and the project moves forward in Norfolk.
Officials say the facility would be operational in late 2019.
