STANTON COUNTY – Highway 275 is reopened after a semi trailer is engulfed in flames closing both lanes of traffic.
The Stanton County Sheriff Office was called to a semi trailer fire on Highways 275 east of Norfolk near the former Tony’s Steakhouse building around 2:15 p.m.
Sheriff Mike Unger says the driver of the semi trailer and his dog were found in a nearby ditch and was injured fighting the blaze.
“Upon responding, we found the semi fully engulfed. We did find the driver and his dog in a ditch near the scene. he had suffered an injury trying to put the fire out and was transported by ambulance to Faith Regional.”
The highway was closed off temporarily in both directions to allow fire crews to work.
Police say the driver was taken to Faith Regional by ambulance for his injuries.
