COLUMBUS – One person was injured and a van was totaled, after an early morning collision on 23rd Street and 3rd Avenue.
Columbus Police Captain Todd Thalken says a 73-year-old man was driving a 2006 Chrysler Van westbound on 23rd Street, and a 23-year-old man was driving southbound and attempting to turn east in his 2011 Ford Pickup, when the vehicles collided at the intersection.
The 73-year-old man was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, and was cited for violating the traffic signal, says Thalken.
The Chrysler was estimated to be a total loss, and the pickup suffered an estimated $5,000 in damage.
Local emergency response crews were called to the scene of the accident at 12:23 a.m. Sunday morning.
Temporary lights are currently operating the 23rd Street and 3rd Avenue intersection, as crews work to replace the permanent light on the northeast corner of the intersection.
