Phone Installation Work Cuts Natural Gas Line in Cortland

BEATRICE – A construction crew doing a phone line improvement accidentally cut into a natural gas line in Cortland, this morning.

Gage County Emergency Management Coordinator Lisa Wiegand says no evacuation of residents was needed.

A gas company crew was summoned to the scene to shut off gas service in the area and make repairs.   Wiegand says the line was cut, in the south part of Cortland, along Eighth Street…a block west of a car wash that sits along U.S. Highway 77.

The line break occurred at about mid-morning, Wednesday.
