Plattsmouth Community Schools Closed Wednesday After Shooting Threat is Posted on Social Media

PLATTSMOUTH, Neb. – All Plattsmouth Community Schools will be closed on Wednesday after a threat was posted on social media.

According to Superintendent  Dr. Richard Hasty, it was reported someone posted a threat about a shooting that would take place at the middle school on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017.

“Based on information that was obtained from local law enforcement a short time ago, this appears to be a credible threat,” Hasty said in a release. “Local law enforcement made contact with one, but not all, of the potential suspects.”

All school buildings will be closed on Wednesday as the investigation continues.

“We take these threats very seriously,” Hasty continued. “Please plan accordingly, as we strive to maintain the safety of our students and staff members.”

The threat comes just two days after a gunman opened fire on the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas, killing 59 people and injuring over 500.
