O’Neill – After Wednesday’s Ice Raid Operation a press conference in O’Neill was underway with updates on humanitarian efforts for families affected.
“We know law enforcement has to do their job and I wasn’t witnessed to any kind of those events. As a Coalition O’Neill Cares, we recognize the important role Law Enforcement plays,” says Corkle.
O’Neill Cares Coalition Spokesperson, Bryan Corkle explains how they are assisting families affected by the Immigration raids last Wednesday in Friday’s afternoon press conference.
“This is a hard issue, it’s not lost on us. We recognize any sort of Immigration reform moving forward is going to be a give and take,” says Corkle.
He also explains how elective representatives are silent at this time when it comes to these economic problems.
“I mentioned earlier that they visit O’Neill, they come here for fundraisers, they come here to tour our businesses. Many of them that were affected by Wednesday’s Tragedy, they come, but here now, when we need them most, their absence is frustrating,” says Corkle.
“A lot of the businesses that are started in our country, believe it or not, are by females and Immigrants. My goodness, if you just look at Apple, one of the most successful companies that we have. Guess where that guy is from? Syria. We’re going to be at War with Syria soon. But look, it’s a lot better to create these commercial relationships with all these countries because we need the Immigrants in this country,” says Representative and Volunteer Hector Flores.
In an effort to assist families, The O’Neill Cares Coalition has begun taking donations of food items, household items, and hygiene products.
