Rear End Collision Injures One Near Chautauqua Park in Beatrice

BEATRICE –  One person was taken to Beatrice Community Hospital following a rear-end collision that caused major damage at Grable Avenue and U.S. Highway 77 yesterday.    The collision was at the entrance to Chautauqua Park.

Beatrice Police say 24-year-old Meaghan Setzer was the driver of a 1999 Honda four-door that was struck in the rear as it was stopped on the highway, waiting to turn left onto Grable Avenue.  Setzer was taken to the hospital by Beatrice Fire and Rescue.

Her car was hit from behind by a 2000 Chevrolet pickup driven by a 17-year-old Pickrell girl.  She was not injured.  The driver of the pickup was cited by police.    Both drivers were using seatbelts.

The car and pickup were southbound at the time of 5:21 p.m. collision.   The Honda was totaled in the accident, while the pickup had about $1,000 damage.
