OMAHA – A Nebraska State lawmaker took a tour this week of the University of Nebraska Medical Center, the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, and a UNMC biocontainment unit.
Senator Laura Ebke and her husband, Dr. Russell Ebke toured the iEXCEL Visualization Hub as part of an afternoon tour of the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Tuesday.
Senator Ebke marveled at the stereoscopic 3D image of the human heart she was seeing through the Hololens, telling another person passing by, “you just walked through my heart.”
The senator’s husband is a family medicine doctor in Crete. Laura Ebke represents District 32, and chairs the legislature’s judiciary committee.
Russell Ebke is a 1987 graduate of the UNMC College of Medicine, and says a lot has changed in medical education since he was a student.
Laura Ebke said UNMC “is an important part of our economic development and also the future of the state.”
