Single-Vehicle Accident Causes Deaths Of Two Columbus Men

COLUMBUS – A single-vehicle accident early Monday morning claimed the lives of two Columbus men.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies responded around 2:15 AM Monday morning to the accident, which occurred approximately five miles east of Monroe on Highway 22. The driver of the vehicle, 26-year-old Frank Brave Heart of Columbus, was driving west when he lost control and went into the north ditch, striking a tree.

There was also a front seat passenger in the vehicle which was identified as 26-year-old Christian Schwager of Columbus. Both of the occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office says that there was heavy rain in the area at the time of the collision, and that seatbelts were in use by both occupants before the crash. The Platte County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Monroe Fire and Rescue Department, and the collision is currently under investigation.
