SNAP Benefits Recipients Can Apply to Replace Food That Spoiled During Recent Power Outages

LINCOLN — Recipients of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits may be eligible for benefits to replace food that spoiled during recent power outages.

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services says SNAP recipients in the Norfolk and Columbus areas may apply if last Friday’s storms caused a power outage lasting at least four hours.

DHHS says it could take at least four days to get food replacement benefits once the recipient’s address is verified.

Eligible recipients can call ACCESSNebraska at 800-383-4278, or visit a local DHHS office before June 26.
