UNION- The Nebraska State Patrol reports the arrest of 39-year-old James McClane after a seven-hour standoff at a Union trailer home.
Cass County sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic disturbance complaint at the LaRue Street residence and heard shots coming from inside. McClane’s father reportedly told officers that there was a high-power rifle in the house.
A state patrol press release says crisis negotiators were in contact with McClane when shots were fired from inside the residence at state troopers and SWAT team members. No injuries were reported.
A bomb robot was deployed inside the house. McClane disabled the robot, but not until it transmitted a photo showing that he had possession of the rifle.
Multiple rounds of gas were then deployed into the home in attempts to get McClane to exit. He was taken into custody around 4:40 p.m.
McClane was taken to the Bellevue Medical Center for evaluation. His previous contacts with law enforcement in Cass County have been traffic offenses/
